Up for review tonight is the Starlite Kiss Lock Purse in Red Sparkle by Lux De Ville ( also available in a variety of other colours with matching wallets).
I’ve had this delicious bag for roughly a year now, and I still receive compliments every time I use it. At a recent car show, my man even got some compliments when I asked him to hold it while I went to the loo.
The little details really make this handbag stand out; from the bullet feet on the bottom, to the retro touch of a kiss lock closure, daring leopard lining and a cute silver star accent on the front… Add these on to the darling sparkles and vintage-inspired shape made from an easy clean vinyl material, and you’ve got an amazing bag!
Let’s focus on the colour and the sparkles for a second. This photo from the Lux De Ville site, and all the others I managed to find, just don’t do this bag any justice. The sparkles rival that of the most outrageous sparkly nail polish you could find, or even rivals the most lively Christmas decoration. If they made a shoe that looked like this, I could die a happy woman.
Now, I bought this purse from PinUpGirlClothing.com, so I cannot comment very thoroughly on Lux De Ville’s service, but I have only ever heard good things (the 9 5 star reviews on Lux De Ville only solidify that fact). I can, however, comment on their amazing customer service that I’ve seen over their facebook page. They regularly have contests where you can win a free handbag, traincase or wallet (with no limits, so that includes their lavish and expensive lucite purses); and usually offer up a coupon at the end of the contest for us folk who aren’t so lucky.
However, there are a couple of bad points for the bag. For one, it is a tad on the small side to hold everything I need during the day, but for a night out it works beautifully. The second thing is that the price is a tad on the expensive side; but I would spend that much again on another one of these bags. I’ve never had a problem with the construction, and I’ve never had to be overly worried about trying to fit everything in to it (I carry a tonne of useless stuff anyway!).
So yes, I say—do it! Take the leap and get one! For gosh sake, think of all the sparkles!!
A wardrobe staple for the vintage-inspired lass is a good black skirt. This amazing a-line skirt by Heartbreaker Fashion makes for a fantastic investment, at a reasonable price. This piece would go with a simple gingham shirt, bright red belt and some cute flats for something during the day or a vintage inspired sweater and some pumps for a more classic look.
Deadly Dames 2011 Fall Collection: Ja Ta Dore’ Dress
(Designed by Micheline Pitt, Photos by Laura Byrnes of PinUpGirlClothing.com).
Deadly Dames Clothing has been described as the brainchild of creative wunderkind Micheline Pitt. Originally created as an edgy line, the new fall designs see a change for immense glamour wrapped in luscious satins, laces and velvets. The bright colours Deadly Dames has been previously known for has been swapped for more subdued hues paired with striking black; designer Micheline Pitt taking inspiration from 1950’s lingerie and historical style icon Marie Antoinette. Here is why you should be just as excited for this line as I am!
7. Originality and limited cliché. Don’t get me wrong, I love cherry prints, gingham, nautical stripes and skulls as much as the next girl. But it is refreshing to see new ideas and new designs involving new fabric compositions.
6. Speaking of fabrics… The satin, lace and velvets featured in this new collection are to die for. The colour palette is similarly divine, full of blushes, champagnes and greens with striking blacks.
5. Also featured is a Glamorous Botanical Print. Fans of the Deadly Dames line were even invited to vote for their favourite colourway option to be added to some dresses, the winner a red and cream rose print on a black background.
4. Emphasis on curves! The Mon Cheri’ dress (featured above left) appears to have pleats stemming from the waist, enhancing the derrière, while the Film Noir dress (not featured) has beautiful drapery over the bust, drawing attention to the neckline and creating the illusion of a fuller bust. It is no secret that designer Micheline Pitt loves curves, and has even admitted to wishing she had more of her own; which is evident in these designs.
3. Something for Everyone. The colours in this collection I can see looking amazing on everyone… There are sleeves, cute bow details, lace, velvet, satin, prints, belts… Even a couple of swing dress options. Everything a girl could ever want.
2. Deadly Dames Classic Fit and Reasonable Price Point. Although the price is unknown as of yet, the most expensive dress from the Deadly Dames collections is $126; the Malibu Tiki Dress in Black Satin. I anticipate that these dresses will be at a slightly higher price point; which considering the construction, fabric quality and customer service, is completely reasonable. Every Deadly Dames item I own fits like a dream. It is nice to have this reliability when ordering online.
1. Sophistication. These dresses just exude complete glamour and sophistication. Once these dresses come out, I dare you to wear one and just tell me that you do not feel like a complete vintage goddess.
This collection will be available from PinUpGirlClothing.com once released. I believe pieces should start hitting the site within the next month or two.
